Brittany Everett
Virginia Department of Education and State Council of Higher Education for Virginia
Postsecondary Access and Success Specialist
While I’ve always had a passion for helping others, this passion was cultivated at the University of Virginia where I earned a B.A. in English and Sociology. Whether it was volunteering as a Big Sister to middle school girls or assisting my peers in University Career Services as a Career Peer Educator, I found myself drawn to service.
In 2013, I was selected to join the Virginia College Advising Corps where I served as an adviser to high-schoolers across Virginia and upon completion of this program, I joined RVA Future to continue the work of addressing the widening gap in college access for low income, first generation, and under-represented students.
These humbling and impactful experiences have inspired me to continue the work of access and equity for all students as the new Postsecondary Access and Success Specialist for the Virginia Department of Education and the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of building relationships across the ambit of education and I look forward to bringing this rich perspective and skillset to help advance the missions of VDOE and SCHEV.
